    Hi all,

Just a quick question if I may...

Are Melatonin products only available by prescription at the moment or can the be bought OTC in certain dosages?

    Thanks,

    S.

AFAIK they are not available at all in Ireland

It is only available on prescription as an unlicenced medicine. This means that the pharmacist can only order it when they have the prescription, there will be a delay in getting it and it is likely to be costly.

I thought Circadin was a licensed form of Melatonin in Europe? Not indicated for anything other than sleep aid in elderly, but available (and otherwise used) nonetheless.

It is available in Ireland but only only prescription. It can be prescribed for various reasons associated with sleep. Some children with ADHD are prescribe it for sleep issues.
