Interview Help - Recruitment Agency

    Hi All

    I was contacted yesterday by a recruitment agency (I had registered with them a while ago and I am connected via linkedin with one employee) to come in to "discuss my requirements" next week.

    They are a well known and reputable agency.

    My question is this - I know they have one job available for a suitable position and I actually applied to it yesterday via a different job site. She might be following up on the back of this or not. She didn't mention it.

    Do I mention it or not? Or do I just go in on a general interview basis? How would you handle it??

    Feedback appreciated

    She may not have realised that you applied for that role as of yet, sometimes agency systems can be slow to feed through cv's.

    Mention it to her that you applied to the role already,that doesnt make much difference as agencies should not send on your cv to prospective employers without your permission and if it a reputable agency then there would be no issues. This is a chance for you to get decent feedback on your cv and get great interview tips. Also she will want to know various things about you;

    Location, where is the furthest you will travel for a job.
    Do you drive?
    Salary expectations, this usually is about what is the lowest you will drop to and give you really good idea of how much the industry is paying for your level of experience and great guide when you are applying for other roles.
    What roles are you looking for? Are there other roles you can apply to?
    Are you trained up for the roles or do you need additional training?
    What level are candidates trained to in your field? You will find alot of grads now have completed masters as they are staying in college as long as possible before having to look for a job.

    I would also have a list of questions you would like to ask her. Tell her to always contact you if she has a role that you may be interested in, do not let her send in her cv to anyone she feels is good for you. You need to always be aware of the companies that you cv is being sent as it looks really unprofessional if you apply directly to them at a later date without realises its has been sent.

    I would advise you to always let an agency send your cv to the bigger orgainisations as normally they have a good working relationship and can get good feedback for you.
