    Hi All,

I have just noticed that my income protection insurance does not cover ANY aviation related accidents , which is basically the opposite of what I want.

Does anyone here have either Life insurance or Income protection policies within Ireland that include aviation ??

Would you mind telling me the company name (and your quote price so I don't get ripped off)

Thanks so much in advance , hopefully I'll never have to avail of the insurance , sure what could possibly go wrong !! but it's nice to have it all the same

    Thanks,
    Fionn

    Hi Fionn.

I discovered the same problem when thumbing through my policy so I duly changed brokers added recreational flying and lowered my premiums.

There was no drama involved with the new brokers but I had to insist that I was covered for Recreational flying etc....
(I cant believe prior to that that I was flying away for years and that if anything happened my life insurance policy would have been null and void)

PM Me what exactly you need to know and I'll do my best to help.

    Cheers,

    Cavanman

I know IrishLife include recreational flying, but there of course a cost increase in the premium.
Also they wanted to know what type of flying e.g hanggliding, helicopters, etc.

And speaking of coverage, if one is injured whilst undertaking certain flying activities whilst on holidays your holdiay insurance often may not cover you.

I am not allowed discuss …

Thanks so much for the replies, I'll try my existing broker and see what the premium change is like after including G.A. Flying.

Donkeyballs (great nick btw) - why don't you give the schools a call and ask to be put in touch with 'Hour Builders' , I'm sure they would be glad to have some company along on their flights. I'll pm you when I'm at that stage too.

I'll let you know how it goes,

    Rgds,

Cavanman - would you tell me the name of your broker please ?

I rang my broker and got a truly Irish reply - "We still don't cover General Aviation, but if you find someone who does we will ring them and get a price for you"

    - brought a smile

Jmayo - Thank you for your reply , I'll give them a call.

Currently the fee for loss of income per month is €72.70 , does this seem about right ? this is not inclusive of G. Aviation.

    Fingers Crossed,

    I just love this line.....

"We still don't cover General Aviation, but if you find someone who does we will ring them and get a price for you"

    Because :

    a) You dont have a phone yourself ?
    b) You have a phone but dont know how to use it ?
    c) You have a phobia of using the phone
    d) Your afraid to talk to strangers
    e) Life insurance is a shadowy black art and its too much to handle
    d) None of the above your just feeling generous

    PM Sent.

    Best of luck.

    Cavanman
