    Hi Folks,

I was just wondering are there issue for employers if they are taking on people who want to volunteer to work for the company, in term of insurance costs or any other costs that may be associated with if they do take on volunteer workers who want to gain experience?

    Cheers

Depends what you want to do , most will have insurance issues some will have training , if your working with venerable garda vetting is a big issue

No, vetting shouldn't be a probably neither will training be, so its really insurance is the only cost.

it might be a cost or it might not be , they may be already covered by their current policy , just one other thing if you are on the dole you are ment to tell them if you are not able to look for work due to doing somting else (saying that i dont know anyone that does tell them)

Any worker, whether volunteer or paid, costs a company in terms of "things" used (eg in some jobs it would be desk/chair/computer/paper/envelopes/postage, in other jobs maybe cleaning products, or manufacturing raw materials, or protective clothing, or whatever else the company employees work with).

A an inexperienced volunteer may cost more, because they make mistakes and so ruin some raw materials.

Also, extra bodies cost in terms of training and supervision costs, and extra wear-and-tear on the facilities. Sure on extra body is marginal ... but when you really look at the impact of all the bodies over time, you'd be surprised how they add up.
