bt doubles FTTC speeds

    BT stated in its FY2011 results that it expected “to roughly double fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) speeds to up to 80Mbit/s” in 2012 and that “future changes are expected to take the potential for FTTC to over 100Mbit/s”.

    Is it enough?

    Came across this post on dadamotive.com. (with other good posts too)

    Looks like forthcoming 4kx2k TV at 60 fps would require 240Mb/s for each viewed channel - and thats just 2D.

    It's roughly 4 times better/faster than anything eircom offer so it's enough:)

    It also demonstrates that LLU is dead as the dodo and SLU is the only way to go forward. Now if only eircom would move forward...
