Im going to Perth in September for a year, im holding on to my car.
My question is my insurance is up the end of October, when i get word to renew it, ill just ignore it or should i let my Insurance provider know im going away? will this affect my no claims bonus?
    This the normal process?
    Thanks

No harm letting them know why you are not renewing :) Ring them in September and ask can you freeze it, if they allow you to when you come back there'll be a month or two on it. NCB won't go off for 2 years.

Years back I had an insured car that I didn't need to use for a while, I froze the insurance on it, months later I got rid of it so cancelled the policy, they refunded the balance to me from the date of freezing, the NCB they gave me was upto when I cancelled it though, not up to when I froze it :)

For a policy expiring in October, and you leaving in September, there's nothing to freeze. Most policies lose 3 mths on day one, so from month 9, there's no 'credit' left to claim.

OP, no need to do anything, but do make sure you keep your NCB letter when it arrives with your renewal, as your NCB WILL expire within 2 years.

If you're not sure what to do at the 2yr mark, renew it anyway, just to keep it, even on TPO basis.

On my last renewal letter, it said that if I do not contact them about my renewal quote they will assume that it is excepted and will therefore continue to receive payments by direct debit. This was of course a monthly DD. sO REMEMBER TO RING AND CANCEL WITH THEM JUST IN CASE.

I've paused insurance before and got 6 months NCB out of it aswell,if I had paid my renewal while It was paused I would of continued to gain more.

That's often true, but there are exceptions. I cancelled an Aviva classic policy last year after two months and got a full pro rata refund. I'd ask anyway.
