10 OUT OF 10 FOR THE AUSTRALIAN PEARL JAM
“Ten” was the debut studio album released by US grunge rockers Pearl Jam in 1991. Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. Most of the songs began as instrumental jams, to which Vedder added lyrics about topics such as depression, homelessness, and abuse. Ten was not an immediate success, but by late 1992 it had reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album produced three massive hit singles: "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy", and along with “Nevermind” by Nirvana, which was released the same year, it is regarded as one of the cornerstones of US alternative rock. The album went on to sell 10 million copies and remains Pearl Jam's most commercially successful album to date.
To celebrate it’s 20th anniversary, the Australian Pearl Jam will play the album in full Upstairs@ Kellys on Saturday, 4th June, followed by a 60 minute encore featuring “the best of the rest” of Pearl Jam’s extensive back catalogue. Doors are at 9pm with the band taking to the stage at 9pm sharp.
Tickets: €10 and are available on the door.
    Doors open 9pm
