cant transfer music from new laptop

    i got a new laptop and when i hook up the ipod it opens i tunes as normal but i cant add songs to the library??

    How are you trying to do it? Is the sync music box checked?

    like when i open i tunes...i click and drag the music i want from an external media drive but it wont let me do it

    Have you authorised the laptop to be able to do it ?? Should be under "Store" "Authorise This Computer"

    are ya trying to use an ipod to transfer them or an external hard drive

    yeah i tried that and i thought i was onto something when it said 2 out of 5 computers authorised but i still cant click and drag files into the music library on the ipod

    the easiest way to transfer from the ipod is to get sharepod, it copies everything on an ipod to a folder, ya can then import to itunes from that folder

    I've always wanted to do this as I have 30gb of music on me ipod and NONE of it's on me compooter :p

    Thank you very very much. I've always been scared with 30gb of un-backed up music. My hard drive crashed so I lost all of it too.

    But now it's all safely stored on my new hard drive. Good man on yerself!!! :D

    same here i keep nothing on my laptop its all on my ipod of external hd.its a disaster i think ill just restore factory settings and start from scratch!

    Almost nobody uses itunes for their music due to the copyright and autorisation issues that apple imposes.
    Most people use winamp.

    ive used winamp for about 10 years now i swear by it but only ever use it to play music...i didnt know you could use winamp for ipods do tell more!!!
