Recommend a Dublin taxi firm?

After watching the Prime Time Investigates on taxis, I'm very reluctant to use one again. Could anyone recommend a firm or a taxi in Dublin (central) that I can use and be relatively confident that it's not being driving by a criminal/ has an engine that is falling apart/ is not breaking the law left right and centre... Thanks for any recommendations :)

OP I've PM'd you the details of the company that I use - the sole reason that I use this company is that all of their drivers are Garda vetted. I didn't want to break the Commuting & Transport charter by posting the company's name on this thread.

I am a skeptic when it comes to taxis - many a night when I'm out in town I choose to walk the 3.5miles home instead of getting a taxi.

I also found another interesting thing the other night while watching the prime time show, on the taxi regulator website there is a link to this https://onlineregister.nationaltransport.ie all you have to do is input the drivers licence Number or else the Vehicle Registration and Taxi Plate Number. It would be handy if they had some sort of text SMS service for this too, but I suppose this is a start!

All taxi drivers are supposed to be Garda vetted ( including the ones featured on Primetime ), Garda vetting doesn't make it any more or less likely that the company you recommend has or hasn't criminals renting radios from them

All drivers have to be vetted by the gardai before they get their driving licence to drive a taxi hackney or limousine. The problems that have arisen is when a person who has committed a crime tries to apply for a licence or a renewal of a licence and it is refused by the gardai. The person then goes to court pleading that it is their only means of employment or making a living or whatever and the judges over-rule the gardai and the licence is granted. Maybe its the judges who would need to be brought up to speed on this situation in the taxi industry. They seem to be out of touch along with the regulator.
People please do not tar all drivers with the same brush. The vast majority of taxi drivers all around the country are decent hardworking law abiding men and women who often work long hours and very unsocial hours to get people home safely after their night out. A lot of the time these drivers have to put up with a lot of grief from drunks and scumbags and people who dont want to pay the fares etc.
