I'm doing my tax returns and my employer makes a contribution to my pension each year. Is this a benefit in kind or do i just put in the amount that I pay myself towards the pension?

do you pay pension as part of your payroll because tax relief may be deducted straight from your pay. This will mean you will not put it in your tax return as your p60 figure will be net of tax relief already granted.

If you pay an avc top up, you would claim this in the return

The employer contrib is only a BIK with a PRSA. If you have an occupational pension, the employer contrib is tax free

It's ignored for tax purposes- you need to include the gross salary and pension contributions if completing a form 11.

leave it out if its a form 12
