Recommend an attic aerial for Galway?

    Hi All,

Was hoping someone could recommend an attic aerial for Maghera or Tonabrucky DTT service areas. I had hoped to work with one of the small amplified UHF aerials behind the TV stand but the service was prone to breaking up. I relocated the aerial to the attic (plugged in) and get a good signal from both Maghera and Tonabrucky. I'd much rather not have a powered aerial though and just be able to put it into the attic storage area, so was hoping to get one of the larger UHF antennas to place in the storage area to clean things up. Can anyone recommend one for Galway and an online location to purchase it from? I believe there are some that are designed for specific channel ranges etc. but don't really know what to look for.
I realise an external aerial is preferable, but I don't want to go mounting on a pole and running new cables when I can already see that my signal is ok with an amplified "one for all" type aerial.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try the aerial without the power on. It might work just as well.

    Thanks very much.
Yes I tried without the power but it's too weak. Will try tvtrade....

Those indoor powered aerials are absolutely useless in my experience. I've had better reception using old style rabbits ears or a "loop" aerial used for UHF.

There's different guides on the internet for making a quick aerial that doesn't need power. One of the simplest ones is http://members.shaw.ca/hdtvantenna/

Google's your friend if you want more info or designs.

Any contract aerial such as what SB mentioned, will work if the indoor aerial nearly works. Do you get better Tonabrocky or Maghera where you are?
