What's your earliest memory?

I’ve a vague memory of being in a buggy when it was raining and watching the rain hit off the plastic cover that shielded the opening. Also when I was nearly 3 I fell through a glass table, I remember being held down as the doctor stitched up my head.

How far back does your memory go?

My Mam coming to collect me from my aunts house when she came outta hospital after having my sister. I remember hiding behind an arm chair and she was trying to coax me from behind it. There's only 20 months between us so I reckon that's a pretty early memory!

Sticking two spit soaked lollipops to my head in an effort to make horns, and then having to have them cut out by my mum and endure two bald patches.

    I think I was about 3.

People probably don't know what their earliest memory actually is.

probably dropping a glass belong to my dad and being more upset about dropping the glass than the fact I stepped backwards onto it and then needed a 3 inch shard of it pulled out of the heel of my foot.

Remember when I was very young throwing the radio in the kitchen to the floor because I wanted to see the little man who was talking inside it.

Well without the risk of sounding facetious, if they don't know what it is, it's not a memory!

My earliest memory is sitting in the window sill of my bedroom waiting for my dad to come home from work. Apparently every day I would go up there about five minutes before he arrived home and sit and watch for his car.

Sounds like a good opener for a mawkish country and western tune.

And then one day, my daddy, he didn't come home.

I have a freakishly good memory when it comes to my early days imo. Playschool etc I remember very well.

I can remember climbing out of my cot (age 16 months according to my mother). I also remember having a bath in the kitchen sink and sitting on my aunties lap with her hiding her face with her hair and me thinking it was great fun. Those particular 3 memories were defiantly before I was 18 months old because I remember my auntie being there and she moved to america after that.

I have another very clear memory of putting my finger on a thorn and pressing down, obviously not knowing it would hurt and being very surprised when it did and blood came out. I'm guessing I was very young there (either that or I was a very dim child :D).

A while ago another aunt of mine showed me a picture she had of myself and her kids that I had never seen before and I was able to describe that whole day. Where we went who we met, what we played etc. She said I was just gone two years old.

Pity my short term memory is atrocious! :o

I have a very vague memory of sitting on my grandmothers lap. It was summer and she was wearing a stripy dress. I must have been about 1 1/2 because she died shortly after I turned 2.

When I went to the bahamas when I was 14 it suddenly came back to me, sitting in my Auntie's closet in the bahamas when I was 11 months. Can't remember much else for another two years though!

This is so gross but sadly very true:D
My earliest memory is being in the cot and smearing the contents of my nappy all over the cot in an 'artistic' way!! I even remember thinking I was drawing.
God help whoever had to clean it up.
Also remember being pushed in one of those huge, oversized prams we used to have and being embarrassed!!

One year old approximately. It's a snapshot rather than a moving memory. Being held by my mother looking at my parents' landlady while my mother talked to her. We moved into our own house a month after my first birthday so this is how I know my approximate age. Pretty early memory! :)

Aw I love feeding the goat! ;)

My first memory is of me walking around in a pair of wellies that were too big for me.

Just before my 2nd birthday I rem my mother coming home from a shopping trip and my older brother asking what she had bought me for my birthday and she proceeded to spell out b-o-o-k and I rem getting all excited and saying "oh a book a book!"

I was about 2 years old and living in Edmonton, Canada and there was really bad snow. I remember wanting to go out to play and my mum saying I could but not to go to the end of the garden coz the snow was so high they would never find me.

Also remember being in the playroom in the hospital when I had pneumonia that same winter and there were huge windows and under them benches that were seats but also toy boxes and I remember finding a rag doll there and wanting to take it home with me and crying coz I wanted it. My mum went out that day and bought me a Raggedy Ann doll to stop me crying.

I think it was the following September when my brother started in school and I remember going with him on his first day and hanging up my wee yellow rain coat on the hooks in the cloakroom and going and sitting down in the classroom. I threw a massive tantrum when my mum explained I couldnt stay and cried all the way home.

I was 4 and on holidays with the family. My sister and i ran across the complex we were staying in and dumped our ice-creams on the door mat of another apartment. don't ask me why, seems like a waste of a good ice-cream now!

My earliest memory is from about 18 months. My folks were opening a store and I remember the electrician guy working on it. That was in 1983.

It's mad how people have memories from 0 and others' earliest memories are 6 or 7. Such a wide variation. I have a tonne of memories that are quite dreamlike and it's hard for me to say with any certainty if they ever really happened at all.
