there is no option on the poll for "none of these"... :D

Some models are bland. The 5 door Ceed being the main culprit. In saying that I convinced a family member to buy one and took a long hard look at a Proceed for myself. The Proceed, the Soul and the Sportage have the spec and engineering to match their peers IMO but are ahead of many in terms of looks.

I reckon a lot has to do with badge snobbery but if youre not bothered then I can't see the problem.

I'd imagine very few of us have driven all six of these cars. I haven't, so I can't say - this mightn't be a problem for others.;)

For me its between the Nissan, Kia and and Hyundai. I'd have to sit in them and drive them to decide though.

    I haven't driven the yeti or 5008

Tiguan too golfy for me. Looks like a golf plus with a lift kit. Gf's father has a high spec 2wd

    Qashqai too common and girly

IX35 just odd looking as is the yeti

Sportage looks impressive, the new 1.7 engine is great and the warranty is huge.

That new mitsubishi would be worth a look with the mivec diesel engine.

The thing is, to the vast majority of motorists out there, all of your average hatch back/saloon/mpvs are white goods.

They are bought with the mindset of getting you from a to b with as little hassle and expence as possible.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who have bought a renault(Im taking them as the example as they are the best selling in Ireland at the moment) in the las couple ofyears have done so because they offered the best price for a new car on the scrappage scheme, no other reason.

Leaving aside sports/high performance versions, you average kia c'eed, hyundai i30, Ford focus, VW golf, Opel astra or whatever are not cars that people aspire to own IMO.

To the general public, I think, the only cars that AREN'T white goods are rare/performace/exotic cars.

I drove all of those when my sister and husband were buying a few months ago and the Kia stood out as being the best IMHO

I drove a Kia ceed as a renter and I wouldn't have one back to have a sh1t in

    edit: -
'None of the above' should be an option given the question 'Really like to have in your drive'

Normally a Focus assigned to me. I'd have the focus over the Kia any day.
Tinny as hell and a whole lot more.
I reviewed it (a bit) on here after I drove it.

Funnily enough I'd have chosen a Cee'd over the MkII Focus. That Focus was quite bland in terms of interior and the road noise was horrific.

The MkIII Focus however is a much better car in terms of noise dampening, driving position etc.

How did the Focus get into the poll question?

The Kia Sportage has the edge on that list, it's quiet and European feeling with still looking like a rappers car, you could bring it to a dinner party or down too the 'hood' and not look out of place.
The Yeti is good but just looks a bit...wrong
The Nissan is old and needs a big lift inside and out
3008 is a brilliant car and I'd pick it if the Kia didn't look so good and have a 7 year warranty
Tiguan just isn't as good as it should have been, I expected more from VW

Had a C'eed as a renter and t'was decent enough.
My main niggle would be that it was near impossible to go from 5th to 3rd directly as the gearbox is a bit mushy, but maybe that's better in the non bog spec models, because the basic 1.4 Focus bog gearbox used to be little better.
Yeti does tickle me in the list, but nothing on it really grabs me, it's like a selection of magazines in the dentists waiting room.
