    Hi,

In my photography website/blog I've edited all my photo titles so that every single photo has a musical reference as it's title. Needless to say it took some time to think up titles and edit the old titles.

A large proportion of titles are simply song titles, some are lyrics from songs and some simply band names; whichever fits the songs best and obviously mainly artists/bands that I love. Most are alternative/indie related and are relatively easy to figure out but some are more obscure

I keep wondering if it's a waste of time, do you think that the idea is good/clever/funny or just pointless/stupid? I haven't seen any photo sites that do the same thing but I'm sure there are some out there...

    Cheers,
    Pa.

What's the purpose behind restricting yourself to song titles if the photos aren't related to music?

I did a college photography project based on a song once and titled the photos using different lyrics from the song. I was marked down for doing it and told that even if the song has influenced the photographs it's self-indulgent to use lyrics as photo titles.

    Cheers for the reply.
I don't see why it's self-indulgent at all. To me it's just putting a different angle on something, something that makes it stand out a bit and that makes it entertaining as well. The titles are still relevant.

One could agrue that taking a photo is self indulgent. Boo to your teacher.
