Cover my phone...but how?

I recently got an iphone and ws advised that I simply MUST get a cover to stop it getting scratched. But there seems to be a mystifying array of options out there with all kinds of silicon and carbon fibre and stuff like that. Its more confusing than deciding what phone to get. Any thoughts on what the options in terms of materials and costs. Are there cheap options that aren't crap.

I'm not sure protecting it from bumps is a major issue as I don't have kids. My nephews seem to like getting their parents phones and hoofing them against walls so I can see the need there.

Right now I have it in one of those bags that protect sunglasses which isn't very handy but is at least stopping it getting scracthed. Also keeping it in a different pocket to my keys and coins.

Unless you throw it about you will be fine. I hot a casemate cover which does the back and sides of mine but only as I usually leave it lying about my desk.

I'mwondering if the screen covers make using it any harder as surely they make it less responsive. I find getting the magnifying glass editor tricky as is.

I went through a number of different covers. Leather, plastic and rubber but never found them to be successful in the long term. They either became loose or added too much bulk to the phone. I've tried different thickness of screen covers but also found that they don't last very long before lifting off at the edges or corners.
For the last few months I've no cover on my iphone and as you're already doing, I just keep it in a pocket with no keys or coins. It's 18 months old but still looks new with no scratches.
Imo, if you're careful and just look after it, it'll be fine with no cover.

I've never used a cover with my 3GS. The screen is perfect. There are some very tiny, nothing worth talking about-type scratches on the back, but that's all. I've dropped it a few times as well. I don't really believe in babying phones, laptops etc anyway. If it doesn't look a bit beat up after a while then I don't feel like it's really mine. I see people with their phones in these big bulky cases, blegh!

I have one like this and i find it brilliant. Just slide the phone in and out when you want to use it.

The iPhone feels great in your hand when you have no covers or screen protectors on it at all.
This gives you the best of both worlds its protected in your pocket and you get the real 'feel'
of it when your using it.

Hmmm, it's gonna look like I'm selling these as I mentioned them before (I'm not!!!)

    Philips Soft Shell Case

I got one of these for my phone from the Philips shop on Dame St. for €1.99 (reduced from €19.99).
I have since gone back to pick up three more for my mates back home!

It includes a screen protector, and the case is solid enough to withstand shocks, but not too bulky so as to be annoying in your pocket.

I did once accidentally throw my phone 10 feet over the side gate with some other stuff from the intended for the bins. I heard but didnt witness the bounce.

I have an Otterbox cover now in lieu of a wallet and pouch type. The Otterbox is a clever but neat combo of hard plastic and rubber to take those kinda drop shocks. It protected my phone in that case.

I dont use the press on sheet on the front screen and pocket it away from keys and coins

Impressive US design range that is focused on real protection. Not just simple wallets and pouches. Recommended.

WRAPSOL for 20 quid on amazon.
Its a skin so does not obstruct the look of the phone.
    100% surface cover
I have dropped my iphone 4 twice from chest height onto concrete and this has saved it.

Ok I've had the above replacement back for a little while now, and whilst it looks cool, it hinders reception :(.

It's ok if you have good reception to start with but even ifbyou got five bars before it can reduce reception to two.

The main problem is in low reception areas. If you got one to two bars, you will get searching and no signal.
