Question about Dole Application

Hi, my contract expires in work on the 27th of this month. Suffice to say I haven't been kept on, "hilariously" I've a holiday booked in June. I intend on going ahead with it regardless, spent a fortune on it as it is. I was employed for 18 months.

Should I go into the dole office straight away and apply, or should I wait until I return. I say this as I obviously won't be around for those few weeks to sign on...

What do I need when I go in there? My P45? Identification.... Anything else?

Sign on straight away, it will take a few weeks to process your claim anyway. Let them know in the local office that you're going on hols, as long as it isn't for more than 2 weeks, then it should be fine. You're entitled to take 2 weeks holidays in the year while on a Jobseekers payment, as long as you tell them in advance.

Going on holidays straight away might be considered an indication that you're not serious about finding work, but if you explain that the holiday is already paid for and booked, then you should be fine.
