Moving to NI, National Insurance Number

    Hey!
I'm planning a move to Northern Ireland and need to get a British National Insurance Number, this would be easier is I was a British citizen and I think I might be!

Although my parents are both Irish they lived and worked in England for 8 years and I was born there. As well as this my grandparents were both from NI.

Am I entitled to a British Citizenship and will this make getting a National Insurance Number easier? I've looked this up on a few sites but its all very confusing, anyone have any experience/advice?

    Thanks,
    Grá

British Citizenship is not an issue when applying for an NI number - crucial thing is that you are legally entitled to work in the UK - if you have an Irish Passport then you will be sorted.
You apply for the number and you will be called for interview ( fraud prevention ) - just bring a load of ID and you will be fine.

British Citizenship is just complicating things for yourself.

as Delancey said. I recently moved from Ireland to England and all i had to do was phone up, get an interview and bring ID. Simple as. Good luck.
