ipad 2 re-sale?

Hi.

I am thinking of buying an ipad2 - if I was to sell it on in 5-10 months how much would you reckon it would keep its value?

It will be the wi-fi only base one.

I know it depends on a lot, but roughly?


Quick actual ipad question, can you view the notes taken on pdfs on an ipad and view them on a osx/windows? Can you view the notes you made with say skim on osx and view them on the ipad?

Depends a lot if Apple release another iPad model, if you have apple care of the device and the state the device is in, if you still have the box and other accessories. In a good state it might be a couple of 100 euros off what you paid totally (max).

There is iAnnotate but I have never used it.

iBooks can read PDFs fine though. Whole range of word processing/note taking/pdf reading apps though.

Any annotations I've made to PDFs using GoodReader on the iPad are visible in Preview in OS X. GoodReader can also sync files/folders with Dropbox which is very handy.

Sad Professor could you please check if your ipad can read and make notes using skim on your mac? essentially between skim and goodreader can you make notes on either and the notes are still readable?

Okay, I just gave it a try, and annotations made in GoodReader are visible in Skim. They can't be edited, but it seems I can convert them to Skim notes by using the Convert Notes option in the File menu.

However, notes made in Skim don't appear in GoodReader. Nada, nothing, zip.

I use iannotate and there's an option to flatten the notes to the PDF if you are worried about comparability but the standard option is viewable in adobe and preview in my experience

Yeah, I was looking for a flatten option in Skim but couldn't find it.

Cool, maybe there are other apps like skim on the mac that could do this ill google to see.

Preview makes notes? text notes, underline and freehand?

AFK at the moment, but yeah it can highlight and do text notes. Probably fairly limited compared to Skim though. However, the annotations are visible and can be edited in GoodReader.
