Graduate salaries but graduate with 1+ years' experience

    Hi there,

I was looking for some advice if anyone can offer it.. I've been looking up positions in my field of study. I'm not an inexperienced graduate, I have field experience of what I'm doing but because of the specialised nature of it would prefer not to declare it here.

I've had experience in my field before the degree for a number of months, during the degree as a year-long internship.

I was offered a conditional position for 18-22k per annum DOE. They said it'll be discussed further when I come in for an interview. Do I have a right to negotiate the higher-end rate of pay given my relevant industry experience? Or would it be best to say that while for the moment I accept what they give me, but that after 3 months if my progress is good I would like a pay review (I did this with the year-long internship I did).

This is more or less a "real" job related to my field and I feel very lucky to have been offered an interview.

    Any advice gladly sought.
    Thanks,
    sstudent

Take it. The employers have the power now. Get experience, then you can start talking money.

Try and get the 22K off them rather than the 18K, I wouldn't be blowing on about a 3 month review either, when God made time he made plenty of it. Just enjoy it and don't go getting any big loans etc, your salary has plenty time to grow over the coming years.

Go for the 22k. If they want you, 4 grand will mean nothing to them.

Mid-point- 20k- an acknowledgement that you have got a years industry experience but also one that you're not the finished article.
