    Hi all,

I'm looking to get a job in security, mainly door security. What certificates do I need to have to apply for a security job and which company is the best to train with?

Thanks in advance for any info.

You need a Fetac 4 (not too sure on the number) but its called a Door Supervisor Course.

Usually takes a couple of days. A quick google seach will turn up a few providers. If your in Dublin I can recommend someone, PM me

Can you still do the fas course if you are employed full time?

I paid 160 euro to do the course before but u get it free on the dole. You'll need to apply for PSA licence after the course before u can legally work in security. This is another 130 euro and you will have to be garda vetted. If you have convictions for the likes of assault you will probably be refused a licence but with smaller stuff you'd be grand.

You can but it costs 200 euro I think. I would just go private if I was you, it's much faster.

Do you have to be on job seekers for long to apply for a course to get it free/cheaper?

3 months, i believe. You find a private provider. Get a quote. Bring it to your FAS Officer and they should fund it.
