Does anyone have advice re getting one custom made in the Dublin area? And if so, the price range? I would like one to match the locker, I think it's a beech. Will post some pics as need advice on how low I can get away with as the bed itself is quite high. My preference would be that I can't see the headboard above the window but that leaves a very short board above the bed. The bed has the 2 pillows under the duvet so that's how close it is to the window. Thanks.

what do you want to make it out of, cheapest option would be red deal stained beech notched into a border for support. The wood you use determines the price. Maybe €50 for the wood and €150 for the labour. It would take a day to take measurement, get supply, bang together and fit.

Might get someone to do it cheaper if you look around and again it varies on the wood.

You might also buy one cheaper in a shop somewhere but it would probably cover part of the window.

Hmm. sounds like a lot. Have done without headboard there for years but might be renting out the house and thought I should get one. regrettting getting a bed so high now cos I prob will have to go above the window. Was hoping I wouldn't be able to see it from the window at front of the house, will look crap. Thanks though.

If there are any joiners close to you, then you may be able to pop and ask. Make sure you have the dimensions and maybe draw a picture out for them. The less running around they have to do, the less it will cost you. Might get One for €80 if they have material lying around.

You could also modify an old headboard to sit below the window very easily, either by cutting the bottom or cutting the two braces holding it to the bed.

Hmmm. modifying an old head board is a great idea. Might have a look for a second hand one cheap and go from there! ON a budget so the cheaper the better! Thanks!

Hi, if you plan on leaving the bed where it is why not consider paneling the wall behind it.That way you can install it exactly to the height that you require.
