    Hi everyone,

    I have just joined Boards.ie.
I am attending the Landmark Forum in Dublin at the end of May.
I'm just trying to find out if anyone here is attending and maybe we could meet up at some stage when there.
I am a little nervous about it to be honest, but I have recieved a few reccommendations from people i can trust.

Hello to everyone again, hopefully some of you will know it. I only heard about it myself recently.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Yes thats them. I know there is a lot of bad reports about them on the internet, but I have spoke to a few people who I trust recently including a Priest and they reccommend Landmark.
It may not suit everyone if they have had a really troubled past.
Im trying it for self confidence, motivation issues.

You will do motivation speaking alright, they deliberatly put the air conditioning in their conference rooms to "freezing" to break you down" .. I think its still 365 for 3 days  so someone is making huge profits.. When you say something that their "volunteers" (that dont get paid) dont like, or you dont conform to their ways of doing things, or to your leader.they will accuse you of causing a racket..They try to strip you of your dignity. People ran out of it in dublin hysterical, its called a cult and is a splinter group of the famous brainwashing "scientology" By the way your even followed to the toilet by one of the volunteers, i know i participated big mistake i was told it would be a life changing experience it was alright, i didnt sleep for about two weeks

You know, that kind of sounds like people I've worked for. I'm not really joking either. And I don't think they were trying to help me actualise my life, or whatever. More the process of inducing learned helplessness/or bullying me into a state of misery and compliance.

Adam Curtis covered EST in Century of Self. It looked like a mish mash of a few different things. Primal scream, stuff they used to do at Esalen (and possibly still do).

Curtis puts it, that core idea of Erhard's course, was to show the participants their selves, did not exist. So, their self could be whatever they wanted it to be. Solipsism with a twist.

Is that more or less what it is?

Though, I have to say, I absolutely love it when the air conditioning is set to near zero.

I was at the Landmark Forum last October . It should be called the Landmark " how to sell landmark courses to your friends " course . The recurring theme of the course is to ENROLL your family and friends into Landmark courses and ENROLL yourself into the next Landmark course .

2 people on the course didn't have money to do the next course ( there are 60 courses in all) so the leader tried to get everyone to chip in and pay for them ...... then insulted the group , saying we were not committed to helping each other . The leader appeared to be have one goal in mind . get as many people to sign up ............. did she have to hit targets ?

at one point someone in the audience peacefully challenged the leader about the content and the leader made her stand in front of everyone and publicly humiliated the girl ( who was a heavy tom boy ) by asking her to try on her dress which would never have fitted her, when this didn't work , the leader accused the girl of using "HER ACT" to never agree with Landmark . However if someone's act was to agree with Landmark then there was no problem . I don't get it ?

    LOL dar100 .

I went because a workmate who I have great respect asked me to come along to a open night , I went out of respect and during break time I was lead up to enrolment desk and pressure was put on me to enrol to the tune of 410 euro . My friend has since apologised for using so much force on me , he felt it was unfair and on reflection he has seen that he was wrong .

It's been a learning experience for me . I didn't sign up for next course and am glad to walk away from Landmark Education .

The people I feel sorry for are the volunteers , they don't get paid even petrol money yet spend many hours helping out at events yet the CEO's of Landmark cream off all the profits , and then they preach about Integrity . Talk about double standards .
