600 quid is not going to buy you a chair which will help your back.

A solid office chair with a good back and most importantly: sitting properly like you see in those help and safety diagrams - you have to put the weight on your arse, not on your back.

And if that doesn't work - try doing your work lying flat on your back - if you can.

while chairs are important i found height of desk to be a big factor in my back problems, id spend 100-150 on a decent supporting office chair, but look into your desk, and keyboards, make sure they are ergonomic for you. and also sitting correctly

We had stupidly adjustable ergonomical chairs in intel with all the rsi awareness courses etc. and to be honest gravity always wins. Getting up and walking around a few minutes every hour is the only answer.

Apart from taking a 15 minute break every 15 minutes, you can pick up a used Humanscale Freedom Task chair on ebay for less than €200 to €300 plus shipping, about £15 with Fedex. They retail at €1200. They're very good (made in Dublin!!) I'm sitting in one right now. :) I've seen Aerons for similar money used.

You're welcome. The Humanscale is as good as the Aeron, and it's tidier.

    Look in Ikea,
I got one from there. It's the one with high mesh back on it and a lumber support at bottom. Helps as the head rest actually is behind your head unlike a lot of office chairs. Oh Yeah and it tilts right back incase you need a rest! It's black and is on display as you walking towards the checkouts (think it was on left?) It's around €130. Hope this helps
