US iPhone in Ireland

    Hey, everyone.

I am going to america this summer and I'm thinking of buying an iPhone and unlocking it so I can use it on Meteor.

I have heard of people doing this before, and Meteor even have instructions to help you switch to their network and stuff on their website.

But I'm just wondering if anyone on here has done this successfully? Does the iPhone work perfectly when you switch or are there problems with it? I'm just trying to figure out if it is really possible before spending loads of money.

    Thanks!

Zzzzzz asked and answered a million times. You can't buy an iPhone in the US without a contract!!

Yeah, I know that. But I'm going to be living in America for a couple months so I meant when I come back, because you can get contracts for just a few months.

unless you get a social security number you won't be able to sign into a contract. if you get one you can sign up no problem, they'll ask for a $500 deposit due to lack of an American credit history after 30 days you can cancel the contract, pay the termination fees and the phone is yours. cancel before 30 days and you're obliged to send the phone back.

I think you'll find it's a tad longer than that.
