this might be a little off the wall,,,,,,,,,,,

ring the imf tell them to write off our, sorry banks debt
or we will invite in the russians or chinese who will pay off the debt
and establish a nice big military base here,
    it might work??
    a pure bluff of course

Your post reminds me of a young Greek person doing his hairdressing course in London, I asked about what was happening in his country regarding the recession he said: 'I do not care if the EU does not bail them out because we have friends that will help us out the like the Russians as we have the same religion' and he was serious.

If there is one constant on this board, it's that it never ceases to throw up wild ideas to get Ireland out of recession by flicking a switch.

A few months ago, we had the suggestion of selling off coastal islands for the tune of 100 odd billion. Then I seem to recall someone saying that we could create some sort of techo wonder world by relocating thousands of Japanese citizens here after the earthquake. And let's not forget everyone's favourite; that half a trillion euros in oil just sitting off the west coast, waiting for us to reach out and take it.

Nay my friends, nay. Do not let the wild imaginations of boardsies fill your heads with nonsense. There are solutions to the mess we are in but none, I repeat, NONE, are going to be a "quick-fix". Thousands upon thousands of people in this country played some part in this mess by either voting in a dreadfully incompetent government, pissing away a fortune in borrowed money and such and such.

    well said richard/and

    but god loves a try,er
perhaps macalees could run a similar scheme like her last one
    only this time
a prize for who can come up with a quick fix solution to our woes
there has to be a way out, we cant be trapped like a rat in a barrell
    for generations
we need new thinking to get us quickly out of this hole it can be done
we just need to apply ourselves, look around what have we thats worth billions and utilise it
and there is oil out there wheres theres gas theres oil
the british dident stand sucking a sweet wondering wheather there was oil in the north sea
they got off their arse and went out and drilled and found oil time we did the same.
we cant keep going around europe bumming and begging the whole time
and then whinge about paying back the loan

There is a way out and I am certainly not going to say that. What irritates me just as much as the "quick-fix" brigade is the type of person who only believes that things will get worse and worse. These people are, in some ways, even worse as even the most deluded quick fixer has a glimmer of hope within him/her whilst the aforementioned only wants to hear more and more bad news. It's like they thrive on it.

Give it ten years, perhaps less, and we'll be in a better situation, I hope. It won't be easy and it won't be quick but these the world has recovered from depressions and wars many times over and I think it will pull through once again.

i dont hear anyone with an idea or a solution??
we cant wait for the politicians it will be too late, and we cant lie around waiting for the good times to roll again,
we need to act quick bounce back
send out the drilling licences next month
anything found 50/50 lets do it now, it wont cost us anythiing
only the drilling companys, if after 3years they dont find anything thats ok
