    Has anyone any experience shipping a wide screen tv from the UK to Ireland?

    I'm looking to go with a reputable company at a decent price. Any suggestions or recommendations from experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Pack it well, then pack it well again. When you've that done, pack it well.
    Hate recommending them but DPD might be your best option. They should do it for cash, by that I mean you don't need to have an account. Used to work for them. They're the best of a bad lot.

    Oh lord that sounds ominious.
    Thanks for the recommendation of DPD though.

    Would anyone else have a more enthusiastic recommendation of a company for this kind of shipping?

    I'm so attached to this tv that I would almost pay for a Ryanair ticket and sit beside it for the journey :)

    If it's not in its original packaging, I would suggest that your best bet is to ship it yourself

    Put the seats of your car down.
    line the boot area with a duvet.
    Place the TV back down with the screen facing up.
    Cover the screen with another duvet.

    Most TVs are heavy enough that they won't slide around and if you have a big enough car, it should be no problem moving it this way.

    I would not suggest shipping a TV by courier unless you have the original packaging or you have a specifically designed flat screen moving kit.

    Thanks for all the advice. Sorry about the delay in replying to this thread but I didn't seem to have received any notifications.

    @larry1
    I'll be shipping it from Reading to Dublin. I'd be interested to hear what option you might have.

    @Solair
    Great tips but I'm afraid I don't have a car to drive it over. I would've left the missus in Reading while myself and the TV took the ferry home if that were an option ;)

    I have however come across this box:

    It's not the original but should serve the purpose. I'll wrap it in a blanket and bubble wrap and then cross my fingers I think.

    DPD might be a good option at this stage maybe?

    Doesn't DPD basically mean 'anyone we could get with a van'.
    See if 'Franz Maas' will do it or 'UPS' most have liability cover as standard also open the box before you sign for it in the couriers presence and have a digital camera handy taking shots as you un-box to take with special attention to any broken seals.
