Ive just recently lost my passport and had to apply for a new one. I sent all the necessary stuff away (birth cert, 2 stamped photos, drivers lecence, letters stamped by gardai etc) only to be told that new requirements mean i have to send off 4 photographs, 2 stamped by the guards and 2 normal.
Fair enough they want proof of identification and all that, but why the hell do they want 4 photographs....? I can get why they would want 1 to keep on file and another to attach to the passport but what are the other 2 for.... bloody annoying!

You get 4 when you get your passport picture taken.. What's the problem?

They want to make sure that it's the same person in all of the photos and not a pair of twins pretending to be the same person.

I would prefer another thread on the queen TBH.

One goes in your passport. The rest are used to stalk you and read your mind, voodoo or microwaves or some such. On a related note, why can't I buy a single toilet roll in the shop, always in multiple packs. Bahhh.

I feel for you OP, I really do. I don't know how you find the strength to carry on.

They have a mingers & mongs board in the office

The staff put people on it and ridicule them

Are you especially concerned over this OP?

It's for the duplicate passport they send to Mossad.

I can see how this could be a concern for you. Ask for 2 photos of everyone on staff in the interest of equality. Or ask for 4 if you suspect they may be twins.

I nearly fell foul of this too, only the garda in the station told me I would need to send off 4. It didnt say that on the form AFAIK.

When I got my passport back they sent me back one of my photos. Presumably the ugly one.

there are signs up in the garda stations now saying you need 4. also, it is possible and cheaper to get only 2 passport photos.

you can get them in B&W for cheaper again, which is accepted and preferred by the passport office

Bit bizarre alright. It used to be two - one for the passport and one for the file.

Now they scan it in so theoretically they should only need one as they'll have an electronic copy on top of the paper file. A second one would be useful in case the first one gets damaged.

Still doesn't explain why they need four though, especially when you only have to sign two of them.

Why the concern? I'd be delighted if I was fapworthy.

it's only four if you're dumb enough to lose your passport and it says it on the form. you want the spare two you would normally have if you were dumb enough to lose your license at the same time (which i did).

Where do you think dating sites get the photos for the bogus user profiles?

That is weird - the UK still only requires two. I guess the other two are required for your files at the CIA and SIS.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
