BMW Service

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me here. My BMW needs a service (its a 2006, 325 Msport, 70k miles)

So I went up to Joe Duffy off the M50 and they stuck the key into their comp and told me the total for the service would be €804!!!

    They printed out what it needs and its the following;

Standard service, oil change - €200
    Microfilter Service - € 55
    Rear Breaks Service - €265
    Front Breaks Service -€187

All with €95 VAT brings it to €804.

Surly there has to be a cheaper option. I know this is a main dealer etc and alot of people are telling me to go up north (the hassle of that) but does anyone know a decent BMW garage with a fair price? I just want to make sure of genuine parts and that the warning lights will be turned off.

Cheers for any help you have.

Thats shocking altogether, Buy the break pads yourself, and get someone you know or a mechanic to change them would work out a lot cheaper.

Plus 200 for an oil change :eek::eek: is that really the norm for a BMW service?

If you care about having the work done properly then stay away from the main dealer network. You could try MKW: http://www.mkwmotors.boschauto.co.uk/

Try give AC Motors a shout and see what they quote you

While getting them done cheaper is good, you want someone who can reset the OBC correctly, otherwise you'll have the dash flashing at you everytime you drive.

Don't think they are that much cheaper, I remember pricing spark plugs not that long ago. OP look at it this way, I'm guessing you haven't had the brake discs replaced up to now so after 6 years its costing you 260 odd quid. That's pretty good going in my book. Also if you're close to the 100k mark your spark plugs will need doing and that's another 250 odd quid but you wont need them done for another 100k. Thinking like that helps me anyway when handing over the cash.

EDIT just re read and see you are at about 112k kilometers so maybe you had the spark plugs done already?

sorry 250 to change 6 spark plugs???? are you serious, its a 20min job

Holy fook! Some of them prices just reinforce why I do all my own work. Dad has a 2006 E90 320i and I serviced it, changed the microfilter and serviced the front brakes for a lot lot less.

Yes I am serious. That's what BMW charge. Well slightly cheaper, it was actually €225- 6 Spark plugs @ €135 and rest labour.

Try this guy - he's looked after my OHs cars in the past, he's independent and specialises in BMW but I doubt he charges the main dealer prices.

€315 for an oil change/intermediate service with Lexus for V6 under 5 yrs old!

Dont use the dealer. A main dealer stamp is not going to be any real advantage over an indy stamp at the age of your car and the main dealer is not going to do a better job so I wouldnt pay that price in a fit.
Im assuming its just brake pads at the prices quoted so for oil & filter, microfilter and original quality pads via independant garage would be half that price anyway.
Worth a proper physical check of the brakes too to see what does and does not need doing.

I recently bought front pads, sensors and discs for rear, got my mechanic to fit for E60, then reset the light myself, thats on an E46... send bmw quote to ac and ask them what they will do it for... I reckon maybe just get oil change done at bmw or ac maybe for the stamps sake for when reselling, but Id get other work done by good indy...

Those prices are insane but not surprising.

Using a reputable independant garage would save hundreds off that I'd say and if you go to the right place you will get exactly the same service. Again a decent indy will have the corrct BMW spec diagnostics to reset all the CBS intervals/service lights etc.

Yea I've heard good things about scullyautocare in Dublin. A lad called "beemerchris" on bmw-driver.net also is very very highly recommended. Hes based in Dublin somewhere too. He's actually a sponsor of the forum.

these guys are good but are no cheaper really than main BMW dealership anymore, used to be as i got my car done there for some years but recently when ringing around, the price i've paid at AC is same as what I'd pay at BMW.

Been reading about Scully autocare on this forum so might give them a call next.

Courtneys is a BMW specialist in the Northstrand opposite the side of Cusacks pub. Has been there 30 years afaik but never seen it advertised anywhere so must be doing something good.

They have the dealer computer system as well so all modern beemers can be checked, Plus a BMW specialist service stamp will look better in the service book on resale.
