Feel free to move me Mods..... I decided in March I wanted to start my own business. This would mean moving to a Back to work enterprise scheme. As im in a partnership area I need to do in through the local partnership. I contacted them but was given the run around. I then contacted my welfare office & had my appointment who advised partnership need to do it. I still cant get an appointment with my partnership - Just feel im being given the run around. Anyway long story short - as part of my market research I now have a huge volume of orders starting from June 1st. Can I register my business name before meeting with the partnership just to get the ball moving or would that be a total no no since im in receipt of Welfare. Thanks in advance . Jen

I dealt with Rural Development not Enterprise, but my local Social Welfare office had no problem with me having business name registered and beginning to take orders as they knew I had began the process of applying and was waiting on all the official stuff to happen. I was 6 months waiting to get approved for BTWEA and SW agreed it was ridiculous and were always very helpful when I went in (however I was not in receipt of any payment from them at the time), and both groups had no problem with me already starting off, in my line of work my "market research" was best conducted by actually taking some real orders so the more I did the more viable my business seemed for my application, not sure if this would apply to everyone, again because I wasn't in receipt of any payment so if I didn't take orders I would have had nothing to live on.

Surely if you rang them they could give you that info and clear that up for you at least while you're waiting?
