Fáilte Ireland is the National Tourism Development Authority, established by the Irish Government in May 2003 to guide and promote the development of tourism as a leading indigenous component of the Irish economy. To this end, Fáilte Ireland, working in partnership with the tourism industry, provides an extensive range of support services and business solutions designed specifically to develop and sustain Ireland as a high-quality and competitive tourism destination.

Our vision for Irish tourism is that of a dynamic, innovative, sustainable and highly regarded sector offering international and domestic visitors a positive and memorable experience beyond their expectations. Further information on Fáilte Ireland can be found on our website www.failteireland.ie

Currently, the main volume and value estimates of golf tourism in Ireland are based on a combination of Fáilte Ireland and CSO data. These are generated via surveys of overseas visitors and domestic consumers. While the methodologies used for these surveys and calculations fit into the wider tourism estimates and are in line with the best practice of other national tourism bodies, the resulting data is sometimes at odds with the anecdotal experiences of tour operators and others in golf tourism.
Fáilte Ireland, therefore, intends to commission a statistically robust consumer research study with overseas golfers in order to obtain the best possible estimate of their expenditure while in Ireland.

If anyone would like to discuss this tender with me please PM, particularly those of you who work in the sector.

    Tom
