    Hey you guys.
A bigtime client of mine has invited me out to an upcoming golf event at the above. Any of you people familiar with the course?
I'm a pretty adaptable player so can play comfortably on most courses but its always good to do some research in advance.
Is this a premier club by the way? Don't wish to turn up with dirty golf shoes etc if its as exclusive as I've been told. Although Richard could be pulling my leg too so to speak!! lol

    Exclusive: Certainly not

All puts break towards Ballyboughal and appear to defy logic/gravity in places. They could very well break your heart.

Make sure you bring either a passport/drivers licence with you because you will be stopped at the gate by a club official and the name has has for you on his clipboard MUST match the name on your photo ID. The member who invited you must also be on the property for the duration of your stay.

Should you be sucessful at entering the property, you will have a good day as its a nice track and all greens do seem to break towards the village. Enjoy.

Yes the saying goes that the greens fall to Ballyboughal but you wont see Ballyboughal when you're putting. The greens fall to the City (Dublin) which actually makes sense. The course is built on very high ground so there is a natural gravitational pull towards lower land. Approach each green and look to where Dublin is (which can be seen from most holes) and the green will fall there.

As you aproach the greens the fall is

Holes 1,2,3 Uphill to the right
    Hole 4 to the water
Hole 5 slightly away from the water which catches a lot out
Hole 6 falling back to the fairway (treacherous downhill)
    Hole 7 to the left
    Hole 8 to the water
Hole 9 uphill to the left
Hole 10 uphill to the left
Hole 11 falling back to the fairway (treacherous downhill)
Hole 12 Uphill to the right
Hole 13 Uphill to the left
Hole 14 to the left but more so on the upper tier
Hole 15 fast to the right
Hole 16 Uphill to the left but faster left higher up the green
    hole 17 to the right
Hole 18 Uphill to the left

Now if only I could remember this when I'm playing it !!

Thanks to all for your replies.
    Awesome level of detail.
Gonna print some of this stuff out and take it along on the day.
Let ye all know how I get on - target is a max of 27 putts for the round!

My Dad played there last year and was very impressed with the greens. He plays off 6 while I play off 8.
However, I wouldn't say it is one of the top 5 courses or indeed clubs on the northside of Dublin.
The clubhouse is nondescript. As for clean golf shoes, I would say you should always have clean shoes to wear when playing, regardless of the status of the club.
Watch out for some taxi drivers too. They tend to play there.
