Hi, I purchased something through a website and used paypal to pay for it. I have not received my goods after 2 weeks and after doing some research in to the site I have found that people have complained about the site calling it a scam. Obviously should have did my research first :(

Anyway I have reported the dispute to paypal and emailed them also. Doe anybody know if paypal refund your money in the event the seller does not comply with the dispute? The details on his website are false and email do not send but I got his paypal email in my transaction history and sent and email to that address. However I am assuming he will not respond to my dispute on paypal so am just wondering what happens if he does not?

    Thanks

See how paypal deal with it. If the scammer doesnt comply with paypal the case may end in your favour.

If it doesnt contact your bank immediatley and demand they do a chargeback. (dont let anyone tell you that you cant) Explain that money was scammed from your visa. They may give you a number to call visa.

They will then give you a procedure to follow.

    Best chance you have

You will have to escalate to a claim if the seller has not responded. Paypal will investigate, but you should also notify your credit card provider and inform PayPal you have also contacted your credit card company. That should help PayPal make the right decision!

Do not do this, if your CC company makes a chargeback and PayPal refund you in the meantime it will take 75 days to get your PayPal account back in order. Just open a NR claim and you will get your money back in 10 days if the seller doesn't have a tracking number.

You will be refunded via paypal (provided you do not open a chargeback too)

Do not, as other posters reccomend, file a chargeback.

Is it not true that you can only be refunded by Paypal if this person has the money in his/her Paypal account ?
In other words, even if Paypal do find in the OP's favour they can only issue a refund if there are sufficient funds in the seller's Paypal account to cover this.

    That is correct.

A claim for refund due to non delivery only takes 10 days, so it's best to start there. You will not be able to do a charge back at this stage anyway, as the credit card company won't let you do it so soon. Usually they make you wait at least one month, if not more, from when payment was sent. Keeps this as a back up if the Paypal claim fails.

If there is insufficient funds in the seller's account, then you won't get all of your money back.

This is not correct, full protection now for sales that are outside of eBay. Only thing you are not covered for is intangible items, services or deposits.

Obviously also fully covered for anything on eBay
