Should I Trade In 30 Games?

I have 30 games (mostly PS3 but a few Xbox) sitting on my shelf and I'm currently debating whether I should trade them in for store credit or not. I suppose I need that little push in either direction to make my mind up.

I know I'll get pretty much nothing per title and that if you add up the full retail price of each, the total is a staggering amount but on the other hand, I'll never play them again.

Also, I'm traveling for the year in a few months so they'll be worth even less when I get back.

What would you do....keep them as I've invested a fair amount over the years or trade them in for a few new decent games to play until I go away.

I also figure that by the time I get back a new Playstation or Xbox will either have been announced or will be announced.

    Yay or Nay?

I know, ha! Pretty much feeling guilty about it so that's why I posted the question.

Any relatives or kids that you know might play them?

to get a euro or 2 for a game that you paid 40 - 60 for is nuts, may aswel have someone you know enjoy them,

I've nobody in mind. I'll ring Gamestop and see what they say.

You could try selling some them through e-bay.
I've sold a few this way - really depends on what the store is willing to offer you as a trade in value.

They buy second hand games. What's more is that you can see what prices you're going to get for each game before you go in.

I'd rather use them as coffee table placements than trade them in for two Euro.

    That is very handy...

Worth trading games with gamestops current offer. If you could get Portal and L.A Noire for 3euro each handy to have after travelling. Personally id try sell the rest on adverts.ie or the like might get between 5 - 10e as to 2 or 3euro in store.

Game are giving an extra €2 on top of all their trade-in prices at the minute, so you could at least get €100-120 out of it.

Generally the older PS3 and 360 games trade in for about €3-5 mark.

I was just on webuy.com. It looks pretty good. How does it work though? How do I use them? I can see the prices but nothing else.

    This is what I have:

Mod edit: Don't want people to start making offers on games.>

Just saw on the website that CEX is on Liffey Street. I'll give them a call.

I like to have a nice collection , but always trade in the worst of the lot. Keep the big name titles. Ive 50 of the best PS2 games still and would have regret trading them in.

Put them on adverts.ie get a lot more then you would if you traded them in.
Even put them up here mite get interest.

When I look back at all the PS1 and Snes games I traded in as a kid, for double the amount of money they give for trade ins these days, I feel like shooting myself. What a waste.

I sold about 13/14 games I couldn't shift on adverts to CEX today, got €72 for them, which was about what I was looking for on adverts so I can't complain. It's really a buyers market at the moment, I'm finding it hard enough to sell stuff on adverts so if you just want to trade in you'd get even more than that and could compare across different shops for the best prices

Just traded in my really old PSP and 2 games for €86 credit. I passed on trading in my games - not worth it. I also brought along my old 360 (20GB launch version) and they wouldn't accept it as it was too old. I may have dodged a bullet though as when I got back I read online that Microsoft's next update tomorrow will kill a lot of the old 360's and if it does, they'll send out a brand new 250 S for free. Ha! (that last part should prob be in the xbox section)

Why don't you try to swap them with people who are near you. I also have a load of games i wont play again, but I would have no problem in exchanging old games with people rather than trade them in. Breaks my heart to only get a fiver for a game I spent €50 on, knowing that Gamestop or Xtra vision are going to sell it for €20. Added to that, the Quality of the PS3 means that games that are 1,2 or three years old are still quality and infinitly playable. If you like, feel free to contact me and I'll chat to you about an exchange.
