A three week old, single female Suffolk lamb developed Swayback about two days ago. Only noticed it tonight. It is severe the lamb can't stand for long. What type of copper product do I need to give the lamb Injection or Orally.

Are you sure its swayback -normally a flock problem and usually a certain percentage of the lambs are affected .If only one lamb affected it could be a spinal abcess,an injury or maybe some brain condition.Treatment with copper could lead to copper poisoning esp if its not required.Get the lamb put down and a proper post mortem done on it would be my advice

Had this in a lamb a couple of weeks back. Got bad over the course of 2 days to point of not standing.
Vet gave us some strong antibiotic injection and another for the brain condition. Injections twice a day for 3 or 4 days cost about E9 total.
Lamb right as rain after a couple of days, no sign of any problems at all. Fingers crossed.

any chance did you put a rubber ring on it's tail? if so remove immediately

as dirac says get some antibiotics from the vet

He is certainly not jumping the gun !! Sway back put us out of sheep a few years back, first one, 2 days later another, 2 weeks later another....end of that week my whole flock... early detection is crucial, swayback is bloody lethal and can manifest very strangely we took some precautions but obviously not enough or possibly not the correct ones, post mortem will determine everything quickly.

you sure its not a bad case of joint ill? a few shots of betamox usually sort it

ive had lambs get it and if not noticed for a few days the lamb can be found lying in severe cases

blood sampling a random selection of sheep would give a far more accurate status of the flock

Could be CCN too and only a shot of vit B and antibiotics would help.

How is she doing now or what did you decide to do eventually?
