What do you mean, i get no spam, opened it with google, firefox, safari, and explorer and nothing gives a warning

It's a link to a forum with about 20 posts in total, as soon as i opened it 3 pop ups came onto my screen. That to me, is spam

It is a link to another forum indeed, but to an actual post on a forum and not just a rubbish forum as previously stated

The content itself is fine, loads of shots of a pilots "day" but sorry Shane I agree the popups are annoying and "dating related". A modern browser should block them but open at your own risk people.

Well i thank you for your opinion, but given i opened it with 4 different browsers and got zero pop ups and no notifications from my security software, i there-by do no believe it to be spam, also i take offense to "DON'T BOTHER REPORTED AS SPAM", this gives the impression that some security software alerted you to not open the page, which is not the case, frankly i believe a better response would have been your second post.. But thank you for your input.

Ok those posts cleaned up now. I did get a popup blocker warning in Firefox 4. I disabled to to see what the popup was and it was for a dating site. Its nothing harsh though just the normal banner or ad-paid stuff on a free forum host.

Interesting photo essay. I am intrigued that the pilots do so much of the flight planning. I was chattering away to a Delta crew in a 757 and they basically told me that they are getting paid to fly the plane, they just pick up most of the calculations on a print out. Higher percentage of time doing stuff that only pilots are allowed to do.

    NTM

Yes indeed Delta have a centralised system which spits, nay, vomits reams of paperwork to the remote station.

Any sig. change in rwy surface condition for example another equally long flt plan and performance data is required.

Smurfit kappa love them, but in fairness the system cuts out a lot of the number crunching afterwards.

The local station inputs the wt and blnce data and all is integrated. in the print out.

This article is from a Russian airline, S7. So there manpower levels are probably quite different than those of US or Euro airlines.

-Notice that pilots get a quick medical check before EACH flight?
-The cabin crew pick up a first aid kit before EACH flight. US/Euro airlines have the first aid kits on board the aircraft
-The large dispatch desk is reminiscent of images from the 1960's/70's that I saw in a book on the history of EI.

This is a just Russian requirement AFAIK. They look at blood pressure and listen to heart. Just to make sure you aren't in the early stages of something

In the US remember the Flight Despatcher is certified and legally responsible for his or her part of the flight. I imagine Despatchers leave nothing to chance because of that and wouldn't want the pilots to ruin his career with a shabby preparation. I would imagine an airline like Delta would have that part well and truly sorted. Despatchers don't have the same status on this side of the pond. Ryanair pilots for example are in an hour and half before their first flight of the day. But even so much of the flight planning is done by Operations.
