Do the following at your own risk, etc, etc.

Laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000) wouldn't boot without the mains adapter plugged in. Would not keep a charge. BIOS says to replace the battery.

Googled on how to fix a dead battery, and came across http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-eXEsg-xXO_U/how_to_revive_a_dead_laptop_battery/ and thought I'd give it a shot.

I put the battery into a sealed bag and then into the freezer @ 18:00 on Sunday.

Took it out at 12:30ish today (17.5 hours later), wiped it down and left it to get to room temperature.

At 17:30 I gave it a final wipe (ensuring to wipe the power connectors of the battery), put it into the laptop and plugged the laptop in to recharge.

Came back at 19:30, and BIOS saw it at a 100% charge, as does Windows, with "2 hours remaining"... :D

In the battery health section it still says that the battery will not hold a charge, but meh, it works.
