Every spare nut (even pre-cut) tend to be oversized so they can be filed down for particular instruments. To get a nut cut, try Eugene McLoughlin at Guitar Workshop, John Moriarty at archtop.ie or Kevin at GuitarFix. It won't cost a lot and you'll be back playing in no time :)

Guitar work shop is on south circular road. He does a great job http://www.theguitarworkshop.net/ . Guitar fix is on exchequer street near Dunnes Stores. Just beside Dublin Guitar Centre.

Is the nut completely broken off or have you just broken the edge off it? Like one string slot or something.

If its the later, its quite possible to repair it yourself with baking soda and super glue. I've done it myself with really good results.

The Nut is completely broken off, so I need to get a completely new one. I went to some place by Waltons on Georges Street, I think it was that Guitar Fix place and he was gonna charge be nearly 40 quid for a new one, thats cant be right!?

That would be right for a bone nut. For a plastic one it should be about half that. I would say 5 for parts and 20 for fitting. If its bone its 10 - 15 for parts and at least 30 for fitting. Bone is reall yhard to work with and hazardous due to bone dust.

That would be including fresh strings too more than likely.
