Refunding item, can I get a refund on import fees?

Me:there are 2 things wrong with the amount I was refunded.

1) the return postage was 52.50 euro instead of 6.53 euro

2) the item acutally cost me 220 euro to buy. By your sums you seem to have added the item (144.33euro) and shipping (37.74euro) to bring it to 182.07euro. But I checked my bank statement and I was charged 220.31euro

overall I am short 84.21euro

So, I didn't get back the full price of the return shipment due to their exchange rate... the fecker left without answering me.

But what I want to know now is if I can get my

Customs and/or import taxes etc are not usually refunded.

If the item was faulty, they should return postage & cost of product including delivery charge.

If the item was not faulty, they only have to refund the initioal cost of the product and don't have to refund delivery or return charges.

XE.com give mid rate currency rates. If you are buying a product, it will be about 2% more expensive than this, is your are selling (or returning) you will get 2% less than this.

That's the cost of doing trade in another currency and not something amazon or anyone has control on.

yeah - I got refunds on everything, I'm down about 20euro on those. But I'm also down 38,23euro for the import taxes.

It seems unfair that I can't get a refund from the Irish tax on something that I returned...

You can, but its has to be done through an export process and not worth it for €38.
