Hi, i couldnt find a recent thread about playstation Home ( & didnt want to bump anything earlier than start of this year)

I downloaded playstation home and started using it this morning for the 1st time. I only spent an hour in there but was interested. Alot of shops werent available (obsiously due to PS Store not back)

Do many people on here use Home?
Are the rewards worth hanging around for?
Is it a good way of finding people to play certain online games with?
Is it a waste of time?

Any feedback will be appreciated. I have only started online gaming in the last 2 months.

I only used it a few times my self but it seemed a bit of a waste of time. Couldn't really figure out what the point of it was tbh.

As for finding people to play certain games with just post in the thread for the game on this forum and you'll usually find plenty people.

Installed it when it came out, had a look for about 10 minutes and uninstalled it.
    Biggest waste of time imo.

Home is the biggest waste of resources Sony has ever put in to the PS3.There was great expectations before it came out because people thought it was going to be like Sims 2 on the PS3.

I played it for a couple of hours. After a while everything gets repetitive and I havnt used it in around 2 years.

Sony would be better off putting its time into more useful features like cross-game chat.

I always thought they are missing out on a big opportunity by not putting skype on the PS3...would really have driven sales of ps eye, and they already had the background work done with the PSP

Doubt it's going to happen now, what with Skype's new owner.

I was in the beta and its come on a lot since then but its still just a gimmick. Although it can be a bit of fun with friends, playing bowling, pool etc.

I boot up Home from time to time. It's good for watching a few movie trailers and getting some unlocks in games. For example, just before Killzone 3 came out, there was a Killzone Home space with a game you could play that when you completed it gave you a code for 3 unlock points and a map pack worth €5.

Quite a few games now have game launching from within Home, so if you go to the game space for the game, you can meet up with a few people and then boot into a game. Sure you could use Boards to set up a game, but usually you need to set up a specific time to play with Boardsies - using Home you could just find some people and start playing straight away.

You can also watch games conferences like E3 and Gamescom in Home, that's always pretty cool and the stream is often better quality than what you'd find online.

Home actually rakes in money for Sony - it made $1 million in it's first month. It gets a lot of content updates and any time I'm on it's full of people - so clearly there are people who use it and buy stuff.

Yeah you can't really judge a constantly evolving service like Home based on what you saw two years ago. They recently updated to version 1.50, with additions like real-time multiplayer and better physics, animation and graphics. Games like Sodium and Novus Prime show that Home has moved beyond queuing to play Bowling.

I don't mean to be such a Home apologist, it just bothers me when so many people hate on something they used once 2 years ago and act like anyone who likes it is an idiot. Like I said, I don't use Home that much, and I've never bought anything there, but I will admit to having played many spaces for an hour or more - like the Uncharted 2 space and the ARG Xi.

    Haters gonna hate I guess.

I queued to play bowling this morning!! Sad i know just wanted to explore.

Good to hear a different point of view. Thanks for all the replies. Am going to give it time. Like the idea of jumping into games to suit you & the free stuff for games.

I find that the chat is annoying seeing everyones comments flashing up. Its good that there is no lag when walking around and downloading new areas is very quick.

I'm on the fence at the moment.

I'm with GothPunk on this one. It's a cool service to waste a few hours and if you've got real world friends playing too, it can be quite good fun all having a bowling tournament together.

I suggest getting the PS Eye, The PS Keyboard or even just a regular USB keyboard for typing as the on screen one majorly sucks!

As part of the welcome back package, Home users will get 100 items for free too, pretty sweet.

It looks like Tony Hawks with no skateboards.

It feels like being in a giant Yahoochat ... in hell.

You will note of course that I called it a gimmick and uninstalled it from my old ps3

I havnt played my ps3 much since I got it a small while after it came out. I do log into home the odd time, I think Sony messed up big time with home. They should have it so if you want to play bowling a new lane will open up if need be same with pool tables. A few more free arcade games would be good.
In the Theater they should have more trailers for games films and other things of interest going on in the world like a screen for gaming news etc
Some more free games in the main area would be good like a basketball court, 5 a side football pitch/boxing ring or a go-cart circuit
If you have real life friends on it it could be good or a group of regular online friends.

I like the idea of Home but it's lacking one feature that was meant to be implemented and thats a virtual trophy case for your unlocked trophies, even if it displayed the plats it'd be something. I got a Predator avatar and it cant be gotten anymore so i get loads of questions '' where you get that '' . It'd be class to walk around as a t-800 though. :D

Home is full of weirdos trying to hit on female characters. Change yours into a woman and see what happens. I deleted that from my hdd a long time ago
