    Hi folks,
    Iv chatted with the mods about posting this, and have got the nod to let you know about an offer that may interest you.

    I run a tourism website for Tramore, Discover Tramore, and I create various promotional material (christmas cards, postcards, and the calendar) and tourism information (local tourism maps, and brochures) for those coming to the town each year. Tramore, if you are unaware, is a lovely seaside town just 15mins or so outside of Waterford City. Its a popular tourism resort with lots to do and see.

    Anyway, I did a 2011 Tramore Calendar which showcases various scenic photographs of Tramore around 2010. It went on sale around August and was very popular. Now, I am just doing a stock clearance as I printed a bit more than needed and its in my way at home!

    The calendar is on sale for just €1 plus you get one free. There is a delivery charge via An Post if your outside Waterford (free within Waterford!) at €1.90 and if outside Ireland its €4.25.

    You can flick through the calendar online and if you are interested, and you can also buy it online; http://discovertramore.ie/calendar

    :)

    We actually got a good few international orders when the calendar launched, but not so many since the price reduction oddly! :)

    Mistys is still there, but not 100% sure on the peddle boats. :)

    The peddle boats are absolutely still there and there is a new area where you can get in a giant see through ball and float on the lake too. It's even not on the really scummy part. The bit across from the Majestic is really scummy! Tramore is brilliant, my mother is from there and I've never stopped being excited about going there!!

    Do you put in 1 or 2 for quantity?

    the guy who runs/ used to run? the peddle boats was such a gentleman, all i remember is he said he might have to close down because some woman sued him for slipping as she got out of one of the boats :rolleyes: glad to hear he's still there. and are all the amusements still there too? sorry for the O/T chat!

    oh and remember that dinosaur museum place that never really had a permanent occupancy....what the hell is it used for now!? :D

    Just the one and ill put one in for free with it. :)

    Amusements are there throughout the summer mostly, and during certain periods of the year (mainly around easter on a smaller scale though!). The area has much improved judging by the time you last visited, the park is a lot more enclosed and looks better!

    I'm moving over our photo gallery onto Flickr, ill post the link up for those who haven't seen Tramore in years and want to flick around some recent photographs! The calendar itself has 12 pictures taken in 2010 around Tramore, you can see the virtual version of the calendar on the website to see the photographs. Those who sponsored the calendar are also there, but the calendar was designed so it wouldn't take from the pictures and the general layout. Its a small calendar, A4 in size, so its not one of those bigger calendars that take up a huge amount of room on your wall! :)

    Remember Celtworld?! That building was last used as a nightclub known as South, which closed down. The building was then bought by developers, and demolished with intention to develop a small shopping complex. Along came the recession and its just an empty site with barriers around it now, sadly.

    The old Railway Station building is still there, unused, but the glass building beside it which was a tourist office was also demolished.

    It actually all sounds horribly depressing but the end of the beach - the stonier end - has really become a metropolis, loads of shops, a spa type place, surfing places and people. Wait til the open air mass starts during the summer proper. It is an experience. Was the dinosaur place just called Dino World? In what incarnation was laser world there? Part of Celt World maybe??

    I love everything about the place. Except that Cunninghams is gone. I'm still sad about that.

    Thankfully the area is very well kept and its not in view either, and to be honest, its a lot nicer than it was. The building that was there wasn't in great shape! The whole promenade area is very nice, very well kept and there are large groups who do regular beach cleaning so the busy area and the most popular area of Tramore is kept in good condition generally.

    Laserblast, if I recall, was part of Celtworld. At least the building anyway. Some memories of there, some craic!! We have a new place now, Laserblast, in the Riverstown Business Park which is very like Laserworld. Its the type of game that everyone will enjoy, regardless of age I think!

    Yup the Pavillon where mass is held in the summer is a lovely place to sit out and watch the world go by. Its nicely kept and I personally like the way the shops are relatively small and its in its own little area overlooking the beach and Tramore Bay. A little further down the road and you have Bay Spa which is very popular, a few small Surf Shops & Schools which are kept busy all year around, then a few shops which do small light lunches with outdoor seating if you want to watch the world go by and bask in the glorious weather we get here in the Sunny South East!!

    Its great not just for tourists, the locals love it as well as the views are great and its just nice and relaxing. :)

    Well, the Guillamene(sp)(for shame, I apparently never paid attention all the times I've been there!) has been completely redone so check that out too. I'm not sure that Newtown has a diving board anymore, maybe the high one is still there? I jumped once, many years ago, I feel no need to ever do it again. I have lived...

    Regarding the diving board, tis no longer there:-

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 102 ✭✭queenm

    To be fair, I agree about Newtown, even as a child I could see the danger with that big stupid rock right in the diving area but the Guillamene is acres deep even at low tide where my biggest problem is swimming through the seaweed. I know it's good for me but there could be a shark or a stingy spiney fish in there waiting to get me hidden and I now can't see them.

    What? It could happen.

    Whats the story with the big fancy steps they are putting in across from the Majestic. I herard a playground is going in there but it seems a lot of work for just that.

    Thats going to be a mini-waterfall leading down into the big field which will, eventually, be some form of park. :)

    Its taking sometime to build the waterfall and I don't think much has been done to the park.

    There are some of us who can remember taking the train from town to Tramore ...... OMG, but that really ages me :(

    Probably one of the few railway lines in the whole country that was making money when they decided to abandon it and use buses instead ...... sometime in the mid 60s I think?

    Nice calendar ..... brings back memories :D Thanks.

    a welcoming present....yipee :) wait....now that i think about it.....there were indeed 2 diving boards.....one by the beach and the other over the rocks to the left down the steps from the car park? which ones gone? sorry, im struggling here :D

    Just to let people know, we have revised costings for our calendars from An Post just there.

    €1.90 for delivery anywhere in Ireland (remember - Waterford delivery is Free!).
    €4.25 outside of Ireland (this has gone up, our old price was for one calendar only - our fault!)

    Last train from Tramore to Waterford left Railway Square, Tramore at 2.10 pm on December 31, 1960. Sorry Johnboy1951, I'm guessing that '1951' bit isn't a random number! ;)

    Used to go to tramore as a kid and ended up marrying a girl from there. Lovely spot. Down around could do with a bit of updating though. Too much focus on apartments and not enough on amusements and facilities in recent times.

    I miss the pitch and putt!

    Mother in law liked the calenders so much she wants 2 more.

    I think railing the park in has to be welcomed, it looks a lot better down there as a result! :)

    I'm away this weekend so I can't process any orders until Monday, and the two others who help out are unavailable this weekend also (rare all of us are gone!). Sorry!! :)

    For those looking to read up on a little history, we have a small history section with old photos of Tramore on the website;
    http://discovertramore.ie/history

    Might be interesting reading. :)

    Hey,
    The Discover Tramore calendar is now being given away free in Ireland. No delivery charge. We had a small amount of calendar stock reserved for freebies at local festivals this summer and competitions, which are pretty much over. With the 2012 calendar now in production, we are going to give away whatever we have left at no charge. Just send me a PM with your full address.

    We sold a very large number of calendars and it was well received, and many thanks to everyone who ordered from our website in recent months - I hope you all liked it! We haven't much left and where I store boxes for leaflets, maps, brochures and calendars is getting cramped as I got another delivery of our tourism material and I will be getting the 2012 calendars soon. So ill just give away to Boardsies the calendars free to free up a bit of space. :)

    For more info: www.discovertramore.ie/calendar

    Again - Limited Availability. While Stocks Last. Promotion available to anybody in the Rep. of Ireland. No delivery charge and no charge for the product itself. Offer only available on orders sent via PM. :)

    State in your PM the quantity please!

    Alright, everybody who sent me a PM with their request for a calendar as of 2pm today should have received a confirmation PM confirming that the calendars have been dispatched. If you did not receive any PM and put in an order BEFORE 2pm today, let me know.

    I can still take orders for those still interested.

    If you could do something for me in return and just "Like" our Facebook page;
    www.facebook.com/discovertramore it would be much appreciated.

    A few people sent me a PM since the 2011 Calendar deal that I did here asking me to let them know when the 2012 calendar is done. Its just after hitting the shops here in Tramore, and hopefully the few places in Waterford tomorrow.
    See: www.discovertramore.ie/calendar

    You can order them directly from myself by emailing me; kevin@discovertramore.ie
    (Please use the subject "Boards Offer", state quantity needed and your full postal address).

    For Boardsies outside of Waterford, its €3 plus the delivery. To be fair to the retailers supporting us in Tramore & Waterford, it has to be sold at the normal price of €5.99 online (free delivery).

    We also did Christmas Cards of Tramore in the snow, but we are just short of breaking even on them so I cant do any deals with them but it might be of interest to some;
    www.discovertramore.ie/cards

    Any questions, just let me know :)

    Just a heads up, the €3 deal will now extend to Boardsies in the Waterford area. We can also do international orders, priority delivery (if urgent) for national and international delivery also. Online orders are crazy this year, but we send them the same day if ordered before 5 and if ordered after 5 it will be sent the next day.

    The calendar has been absolutely crazy with online orders, locally, nationally and internationally. The €3 deal is to say "Thanks" to the Boardsies who have been very supportive, especially last year.

    Only two packets of Christmas Cards left in stock tho.

    More info including previews;
    www.discovertramore.ie/calendar
    www.discovertramore.ie/cards

    :)
