Jobseeker's benefit

    Please forgive me as i have never been on the dole and i dont have a clue how it all works. So just a couple of questions.

    I am a mature student. Just finished a year long course. I went into the dole office to enquire about signing on. Printed off the form from the internet, filled it in. He looked up my pps number and said i will be on the jobseeker's benefit.

    Im not on it yet as i have an interview type thing where i have to bring in proof that im looking for work and what not. That is next week. So after this, how long do i wait to get the money?

    Also i presumed that the jobseeker's benefit is for people just finished work or have enough credits. So i thought i would be getting the jobseeker's allowance. I did spend 6 years working up until last august. So is this why, he said i will be on jobseeker's benefit?

    Do i get more or less on JB than JA?

    jsb is not means tested so you will get the full rate.
