I am looking at a couple of these 2003-2004 this week, anybody drive one?
    Would you recommend or no?
Will it cost me a fortune to run?

    Many Thanks

I assume it is the E39 you are looking at? If so then a brilliant car to own and drive. 2.2 engine is fine for the size of car, no rocket but sprightly enough. Thirsty enough around town, expect mid 20's, better on the motorway. SE, Auto and leather are desirable/essential.

FSH essential and even then don't be surprised to have to spend money in year one. Cooling and suspension may need attention.

Consider the UK for the best cars, but corrosion to underside, brakelines, etc, likely at this age.

Whatever you do, get a good mechanic to give it the once over. These BMW's hide their age well and it's easy to buy a great looking car that is shagged underneath.

the above is nice, no leather, but they come with a alcantra interior (see below link)... it has the other extras though, like climate control over aircon and has mfsw...
