Underfloor Heating

I am planning on putting in underfloor heating powered by oil.

I'm just wondering about floor covers. I want to put in timber floors, carpet, tiles and laminate flooring. How effecient are these floor coverings for underfloor heating.

Would it be better to maybe up radiators in some of the rooms upstairs? or rooms I don't plan on using much?

theres many threads here already about UFH, do a search and have a read.

    a brief synopsis:

UFH and rads dont really go together. UFH works at lower temps than rads therefore in order to get rads up to high temps, the UFH has to work inefficiently.

Floor finishes. High mass floor finishes are preferable ie tiles stone etc. HW timber is also suitable once its laid properly. Carpets etc are less suitable as they act as an insulator, but can be used if thats the preference

Timber floors must be engineered and preferably glued to screed to maximise heat transfer.
