Buyer claims not received item

I am new to ebay, I recently sold an ipod touch to a buyer in the UK. I posted the item by An post Std Letter post on Thurs 5th May. The item has still not been received by the buyer.

The auction was listed with the only postal option being std (i.e. non registered) post from Ireland to the UK.

The buyer has opened a dispute, although as the sale said allow 7-13 working days for delivery I have merely pointed that out at this juncture and will allow the time to elapse in the hope it does turn up.

The buyer could be scamming me, and I guess in future I will always send via registered post. I presume should the item not turn up ebay will find against me and refund the buyer even though I have done nothing wrong?

Granted she has also done nothing wrong as long as she is not lying. Just exceptionally **** that the only thing to go missing on me in the post in living memory is this ebay item.

It sucks, but you're just going to have to pray that it turns up eventually....
Take it as a reason learned that you should always use registered post for more expensive items...

This is an ongoing problem with online buying/selling .

Its a learning experience for you , and note that it is important to be able to provide proof of delivery .

The cheapest recorded delivery from Ireland is around 8 euro , but is it worth it .

With small value items , it just don't make sense to register packages , but then you are always depending on the buyer to be honest .

There are so many reasons why items get lost in the post , that the only option to guarantee success is a tracking number .

Don't bump old threads to ask completely unrelated questions. Ask An Post.
