Was reading through the Indos website at lunch and came across this
If the good weather has inspired you to go out jogging make sure you adopt a good technique to avoid injury.
You should always land on your heels and push through on to your toes -- don't prance and pull your knees up high and land on your toes. Just ensure your feet are clearing the ground.

I would imagine someone relatively inexperienced looking for advice would read this and then go ahead and exagerate their style to come down hard on their heels no matter what their natural gait and style is.

Plus it totally contradicts the shift towards the bare footed running technique.

Not a shift in actually running barefooted, but rather in the style and technique. Innov8 have guides now in stores on how to progress towards wearing minimalist shoes and include a training guide for each step.

As always, be sceptical of advice from someone trying to sell you something.

Jeez, how long would it take me to run a 10k if I needed advice on each step?

    :D

They do, take a look at the first link below, there's abstracts from their guide, I last saw it in 53 Degrees North but it also came in the goody bag for the Glendalough WAR.

To be fair to them I think it's science, they sell shoes for all types so it wouldn't make a difference to them if they sell more minimalist than support shoes.

Here's the reading part, get yourself a cup of tea as there's a lot in it

Through my own experience with Innov8 shoes I'd tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I've been an over pronator who has always worn shoes with support and stability etc but currently have a pair of Roclite 295s, which based on their Arrow system has a 9mm heel to toe differential, and I find them the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

I only had a look at my road shoes yesterday to see how they were wearing and noticed the heel wear is not as heavy as previous shoes but the area around the ball of the foot is weraring heavier than usual. Now I don't know if this is because my style has changed to either to the shoe or the fact that I do more hill running but something is changing. Anyway,

I'm seriously considering getting a pair of their new Road-x road shoes as a replacement for my current ones, but I don't think I'd ever go completely minimalist or barefoot.

I also read this in the Indo and was horrified. Dreadful advice to give beginners.
