How do you deal with a breakup?

Basically I've been with my oh for the past 8 years. Married for 2 and now it appears to have all come to an end. Not how I saw my life going but sh*t happens and if she doesn't want me then that’s her loss!

Feeling kinda crap at the minute and while trying to avoid the obvious AH answer of 'Get pi**ed and get laid', just wondering how everyone else out there copes with break-ups. Don't know what to do with myself at the minute and have never been in this situation before.

    I know how you feel.

You basically need to avoid trying to block out the hurt. You have to feel whatever pain it brings and not block it out. Alcohol is not great either. It's fine for a while, but then you can get a bit hooked on it.

I'm a bloke and I did not rush out to get laid after the breakup. I just didn't feel like doing that so I didn't bother.

I played lots of sport and met up with family & mates as often as possible.

I know what you're feeling mate and it's not easy I know but you will get there I can tell you. But only you can be the one to get you there. Others will help you, but you will find strength where & when you least expect it & when the time is right you will meet someone else.

I was in a bad way after my last breakup due to the nasty circumstances. I didn't rush out to go drinking or get laid. Unfortunately I don't have very many friends left in my area so it was pretty tough. But I had a friend who came over for 2 weekends afterwards which helped hugely. I text and e-mailed a bunch of hate filled messages to my ex and then sent her a couple of last one's about never wanting to see her again and I'll ignore her if I ever see her on the street etc and to leave me alone.

I don't regret being nasty and I don't think I ever will given the context of the break up. But since then I've been keeping busy with work, playing sports again which I hadn't for a while. Meeting up with a friend pretty much every weekend. Things are finally getting better after a good few months of being really down. Hope you can forget her quick. You are right, screw being with someone who doesn't want to be with you. In the end I bet she'll regret it. Good luck
