    Well it would be best to have the immersion on at night works out nearly half the price. It'll also depend on if you have an electric shower(Triton t90 or similar) as it doesn't use hot water only heats cold water as its going through it.

    Storage heaters have to be switched on the night before you need them. As they only let out heat during the day and night gradually. the second switch on the storage heater i think is a fan to blow out heat if you hadn't got the storage heater on it's more like instant heat when needed.

    It's hard to say the easiest way is trial and error. If the water gets cold quick just increase it a bit and you'll get the hang of it quick enough.

    An hour should be enough for a shower or 2 in the morning but i wouldn't expect the water to be very hot in the evening for washing dishes!!

    If its a new apt, the cylinder would be insulated so the water will stay hot for hours. Stick it on for a few hours at night and you could have enough hot water all day, dependent on usage ofcourse.
