Maryland bridge/Butterfly.recement,can I bring it to a lab?

    Hi, I have a Maryland bridge which needs to be recemented..I know if I go to my dentist he will send it to the lab to have it done.This is what he told me.

    So my question is, is there a lab I can go to myself that will do it,as I cant afford the dentist fee on top of the cost of the lab..
    In the Dublin area..thanks in advance

    Afriad not, the dentist probably need to get it to the lab to have it cleaned and the surface sandblasted for cementation after which the dentist will cement it back into your mouth. Its a good job as you dont want it coming off again soon. The laboratory is not licenced to work in your mouth of use cementes like that, nor would you want a technician working in your mouth. It like going to a company that makes heart valves and asking them to perform a heart operation for you (bit extreem but you get the jist)

    You could also find a dentist that can clean the bridge and cement without sending it to the lab I cannot comment really without knowing your case.

    Ok, thanks for that, have tried denture paste to hold it in place until I can get it sorted,but it wont stay in:eek:
