I'm in shock. I knew he had his issues but nothing like this.

What a terrible shame. Watching Sammy run London in 2012 would have been a treat.

Very sad news, just watched a clip of Chicago marathon 2010 finish a few nights back... what a runner. Marathon Talk podcast does a good interview with him a few months back.

Shocking news alright. Didn't follow his career that closely but still always a shame to see something like that happen. RIP.

Devastated, he was fearless on the roads :(
Could have been the best, unfortunately we'll never know.

Just seen this on the RTE website. Shocking news, RIP Sammy. For a man so young he had achieved a lot of success in the marathon.

Shocking news indeed. He was one of the greatest runners around and had the talent to become the greatest ever.

However, his private life has been troubled for a while, so much so that this does not come as a complete shock. It looks like he could not handle the fame and wealth.

What a tragic waster of life of someone so special, so talented!

Holy **** thats unbelieveable. That is a tragedy, Wanjiru had the potential to go on be one of the greats.

He already was one of the greats. He'd have taken Haile any day over 26.2, just a pity we'll never get to see that clash, or the world record he'd have undoubtedly set. R.I.P.

Great video. He was a fairly stocky little guy for a kenyan. A lot different build to most of the other kenyan runners.
