dont know of anything for sale but i got an ap45 last summer that was parked up in a shed for a few years for 900 euro . It worked fine i made bout a thousand bales with it . The only drawback is that you cant pick up hay as quickly as bigger balers but for that kinda money im happy with it

it is a welger im using an international 523 . Baling in third or fourth low because the baler wont take too much too fast . I think the ap53/63 has much better capacity for baling faster but they were a bit too dear for me at the time

The 63 is the daddy for eating hay,1st high sometimes second high in a mf178.We now have a 61,paid 1k for it 3 years ago and while there were a few problems with it the first year with the knotters and needles, there has been none since.Baling with the same tractor 3rd low average, sometimes first high in light crops.

Used to run a NH Sperry 376 with a Massey 188, 1st high on any kind of a crop. A run of bad summers put an end to that though. Father-in-law sold on his JD last year for €900 without telling me.. Should be able to pick up a decent enough baler for €1000-1500 but be prepared for knotter problems on anything that hasn't seen action for a few years. It would be advisable to try and run a few bales through just to see everything is in working order before knocking too many meadows, always used to pike a round bale of straw through just to make sure everything was tip top

We had a IH445 up to a few years ago, had it from new, was a great baler. With good fit hay in haybob rows, you could travel away at 4-6mph or more.

Just wondering if any one knows any thing about new holland 378 balers, a few local 370 models all working perfectly, and I just came across a 378 (6 foot pick up,suitable for straw) for 2900euro.It looks to be in very good visual order with all covers in perfect order on shafts and clutch,a good sign in a maintained and minded machine. As I would only have used a square baler once for about 1 hour I would be no expert, the knotters and kneedles all look to be in good shape.Could any help me out with any info, also could any one up load or email a 378 manual??

I don't know anything about the 378 but I know plenty about the 377 which were a serious baler. I used to do hire work with a 377 they have a faster packer than the older NH's. I often baled hay in 6th gear with a ford 4000. The most I baled in one day was 5000 bales and that was including driving within a 5 mile radius to get to where the hay was. OP the NH 276 would be a good baler for you as they are reasonably fast and trouble free.

And the majority of them are way overpriced. Any reasonably priced ones are rust buckets only fit for scrap. The country seems to be flooded with square balers that there is no demand for.

The 378 I am looking at ,has no rust any where and all paint work is good,it was never painted.Any of the 378 or 377 or 376 on donedeal are sold and when I phoned them I was told that they sold very quickly, there seems to be a bit of a demand at the moment with the finish of the hay and the start of the straw .Are they a baler that is easy to fix and are they reliable,do chains break, does timing slip??

there is a serious demand for square balers in the country at the moment that is why they are so expensive

When I see a square baler I get a shiver down my spine. The hardship and tedium of gathering square bales of hay.

I reckon Done Deal has alot to answer for, its the same with handy 5"6 drum mowers, tried buying one earlier on in year couldnt get anything less than €1500, ended up buying a new KM (probably a heap of sh1t) but it will do me only cost €1800:rolleyes:

Whats new holland 940 like, was told they are very good, what size pick up??
I was told where there is an excellent one fully serviced by qualified man,it has been fully painted with new decals and it is working 100%.3000 euro to buy it. Might have a look at it later in the week,it is baling straw when the weather allows.

Anyone know where I might find a replacement tyre (900 x 16 or similar) for a Bamford Super 59 baler?
I have one for sale in pwo and has been housed all its life but one of the tyres is perished from lack of use over the last few years. (It had a hydraulic ram fitted to the reel aswell but this seems to be seized)

    Thanks
